a brief summary about your book and the main character. Then, tell
what you like the best about the main character. Explain. What do you
like the least about your main character? Explain. Your response

The Plum Tree is about a girl named Christine who lives in Germany. It takes place just before World War II is about to begin. She falls in love with Isaac, who is Jewish. Christine’s family is very poor, and they actually work for Isaac’s wealthy family. Since they are from different social classes, Christine has to keep her crush a secret until one day she finds out that Isaac feels the same way about her. Just as they are beginning their relationship, World War II hits, and Isaac has to go into hiding because he is Jewish. He gets taken to a concentration camp, and Christine fears she will never see him again.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about Christine is that she isn’t perfect. She comes from a family who is poor, but she is a hard worker and very skilled. She also is a very loving and caring sister. She takes great care of her younger siblings.
What I do not like about Christine is that she makes some risky choices. For example, when she sees Isaac, enslaved by the Germans, walking through her town, she calls out to him. Then, she hides him in her attic. The Germans end up finding him and send both of them to concentration camps.
This book sounds very interesting! Your summary pulls me in and makes me want to know more and how it ends! I want to know what happens to Christine and Isaac!
DeleteThis book seems very interesting and very well written. The character Christine reminds me of Mattie from Fever 1793. Mattie also makes risky decisions that I do not agree with (i.e. She takes in a toddler that she cannot care for).

DeleteThe Clique is about a new girl named claire, who moved in with Massie. Massie is a snobby, mean, always picking on people girl. When Claire arrives Massie automatically doesn’t like her at all. She has a posse with 3 other girls and no one else can join! Claire is struggling to fit in with them, but it’s not working so well. Claire is also lost in school too, everyone makes fun of her. She’s always getting left out of everything. Now she’s trying to find a way to make friends, but she’s really shy.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about Claire is that she’s independent and very sweet even though she gets teased and made fun of. She acts like nothing even happens. She stays strong and fights threw it.
What I would change about her is that she does not do anything about getting picked on by Massie and other students. She just ignores them. I mean it’s a good thing to be calm, but it happens everyday and she should tell someone. She should defend herself and tell her off about what she does to her. Claire needs to stand up to Massie and her fellow students.
I enjoyed your blog post. I do too agree Claire should tell someone about Massie and her posse's snarky comments.

DeleteFever 1793 is a book about a contagious disease that strikes Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With the contagion of the Yellow Fever everyone flees for their lives. This leaves the Cook’s Coffee House abandoned with no customers. Mattie Cook attempts to flee from the town after her mother is diagnosed with Yellow Fever.
ReplyDeleteMy favored character trait of Mattie is her determination. For instance she fought hard to keep her family’s coffee house susceptible.
The trait I dislike the most is Mattie’s attitude towards work. In the beginning of the book Mattie reluctant to waking and doing in chores. When she happens to wake she isn’t willing to put forth effort.

DeleteTitanic is about Alphie a poor boy who sneaked onto the Titanic and took clothes and they are trying to find him.He is a stowaway who is trying to get a better life but they won’t let him, because he is a pickpocket, and a stowaway. He has caused A lot of trouble and got his friend killed trying to get on the titanic.

What I don’t like about Alfie is his mom is always having political arguments with other people in public. His mom doesn’t really care about him and she didn’t care that he was sneaking on a ship to get a better life.
Wow. That sounds like a really great book. Poor Alfie he has to steal, fight and run just to live.

DeleteThe Ghost is about a girl named Emily who can connect with her dog Zack. They can both see ghosts! They find a ghost who was once their neighbor Mr. Griswold. He needs his wife to know his death was not her fault. He cannot rest until Mrs. Griswold forgives herself. Emily has to make sure Mrs. Griswold knows this. However, Emily cannot cause any pain for Mrs. Griswold.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about Emily is that she is helpful. She always helps those in need. Once a friend of hers fell off his bike. Emily immediately called the paramedics for him.
What I do not like about Emily is that she is very nosey. She is always entering conversations and eavesdropping on her parents. For instance, Emily’s parents were talking about Emily needing a babysitter. Emily heard them talking and quickly started arguing with them.
Woah creepy! I would be frighted if I could see ghosts! Great book summary! I might have to check this out!:)

ReplyDeleteThe False Prince is about a boy named Sage who is an orphan. He steals food and plays tricks on people. One day a rich man named Conner comes along and picks him and three other boys to become the next prince. In the past two weeks Sage learned new things to become the next prince.
What I like about Sage is that he is free to say what ever he wants and he fights for what he thinks is right. Also that he learns to write, ride horses, etc, very fast.
What I dislike about Sage is that he gets smart with people and sometimes gets stubborn with people and just won’t tell people what they want to know. Also that he doesn’t know when to shut up. He also said something to Conner and Conner threw a book at a teenage worker who is mute.
I also dislike sage he has no right getting smart with people! Who is he getting smart with?
DeleteThe 3 Musketeers is a book about a man that finds fame and fortune through the life of robbery and trickery, until he meets the 3 Musketeers they are sent out to kill this man because he was believed to be an alleged murderer and thief. Until they get an anonymous tip that a man in the local hotel is holding a note that could ruin their reputation as the protectors of the city. So they trace all the clues back to the man that they were sent to kill, and this man by now knows he is being followed by the musketeers so he is always on guard but one fateful day he, and the musketeers life will both change forever!
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like best about my main character is that, he believes that he can be a better person when he had his fight with the musketeers he did not want to fight them out of respect, and I think that that is one of the best traits a person can have is respect.
What I like least about my main character is that he would hide something from the musketeers just to get on the good side of the queen I think he should of told them because he is one of them almost and they can't trust them if he keeps secrets from them.
Sounds like and interesting book.

DeleteOld Yeller is about a dog and know he helps a family. The dog saved the younger brother from a bear. He helped with training a cow to sit still while milking. He also helped the older brother round up wild pigs and saved the older brother from a bunch of wild pigs. The family also saved him when he got injured. The main character is the older brother and he knows how to run the homestead. Old yeller, the dog saved him with the hogs but he was seriously injured him too. The older brother is very caring, he may not talk that way, but he is. The younger brother is like a typical 5 year old, does not listen sometimes, ect.
ReplyDeleteI like how he can put up with his little brother and how he can react so fast to bad situations. I don’t have brothers or sisters so I have no experience there.
I dislike how he sometimes is a little kid again worrying about something that sometimes he needs to be worrying about something else but he can be a man.
Sounds like an interesting book. I might have to read it sometime.
DeleteI can connect with Old Yeller because I have a dog that I take to my grandparent's farm everyday with me and when I go into the milking parlor she sits there are waits for me to finish. Also I have cows that she brings in from the pasture with me when I go out to get them when its milking time.

DeleteBreaking Dawn is about a girl named Bella. Her parents are divorced and her mom married again. She likes the new guy but they are going to travel all the time because he is a minor league baseball player. So Bella is going to live with her father. She starts school and meets this handsome guy named Edward, She knows there is something weird with him. Then she finds out he a vampire. They fall in love and in a few years they are ready to marry. On their honeymoon Bella somehow gets pregnant. This is very strange because vampires,like Edward can’t have babies. But since she pregnant the baby is half vampire and they want to take it out but Bella won’t let them. It will kill her if they don’t take the thing out. She starts drinking blood so the baby won’t hurt her anymore. But unfortunately, Bella drops her blood cup and she goes to pick it up and breaking something in her back. This means they have to get the baby out right away.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about Bella is that she cares about everyone. She always makes sure everything is okay. She wants the baby to live and she wants Jacob not to be mad with her. She loves when everything is just right.
What I don’t like about Bella is she thinks she is really strong. She thinks that she can help fight vampires when she can’t. She is only human and can do only human things. Eventually Bella will get herself killed and that will create a big mess.
I would never ever think to read Twilight books, but this maybe will change my perspective of them! Sounds super interesting! Im shocked! Great job Emily!

DeleteThe main character is Nikki Maxwell ,and she has of drama related things going in school and outside of school. One example is of the drama going on around her in school is that a girl named Mackenzie, she is head editor of the school newspaper.Then she saw that Nikki sign up for the Photo Layout editor and crossed out NIkki’s name and wrote another girl’s name. One example of drama going on at home is NIkki’s little sister is starting to say that she wants to get into the newspaper business.

Sometimes there are times that I don’t like NIkki like the time that she whines about how mean Mackenzie is so mean and how everyone likes Mackenzie more than her. Also she whines about how her friends are mean to others but she does the same thing to Mackenzie. But she should tell her friends the truth and not talk about or make fun of others Also they might like you more the Mackenzie.
I have to agree, that is a lot of drama with name crossing and everything else. I dislike whiners too. What other things,other then drama, are there?

DeleteThe book Chain Letter is about a group of teenage friends that were hanging out at Fran’s house (One of the girls in the group). They were all sitting around talking when they heard the doorbell ring. Fran opened the door to see the mailman he handed her a purple envelope then left. Inside the envelope was a chain letter and it had everyone in the groups name on it and they had to do whatever the letter said, and all the task they had to do ruined something they cared a lot about. For example Allison had to mess up her lines in the school play. And now the group is doing whatever they can to stop these letters and find out who’s sending them.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about the main character Allison, is how well she handles situations. She would always come up with the best ways to solve the groups problems. For example finding out who sent the chain letters. Allison decided to go to the police for help and it worked out, and they got some clues about the chain letter sender.
What I did not like about Allison is how she always needs to be the center of attention. For example the group had a meeting and every time someone tried to share and idea Allison would interrupt them and say what she had to say. And I didn’t like that about her.
This sounds like a really interesting book! i'm gonna have to read this! Also, this was very well written!

DeleteMy book is called The Lovely Bones, the main character in my book is named Susie she’s a girl who is 14 years old. She was murdered on December 6, 1973. Susie is trying to adjust herself in her new home which is heaven, a place she didn’t expect at all. In addition her killer was a man who lived in her neighborhood, he wasn’t just a normal kind of man...he would always watch Susie on her way to school but never really talked to her. Now he is trying to cover up the tracks of when he had killed her, Susie’s father knows that he had something to do with his daughters death, so now he is trying to sneak in his house and see if he has any clues that he had killed Susie.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I like about my character is that when something goes wrong or bad she always tries to fight it, she also likes to fight for herself and not let others take control. Another thing is that Susie likes to give other people chances she’s not very outgoing but she will always give at least someone get to know her.
If I had one thing that I disliked about my character I would say that she can sometimes trust people to easily or just believe everything everyone says. For an example she trusted the man in her neighborhood but she let him take her to some secret place he had in the cornfield. And after she had done that, that is where everything had started with just one single little trust she had in a man.
Why did the man kill her? what did she do to him?

DeleteLet’s Get Invisible is about a couple of kids who get invisible by turning on a bright light in front of a mysterious old mirror. Max, the main character, and his brother went up to the attic one day and discovered a secret hidden room where they found the mirror. Max called his friends over to show them the mirror, the room was dark and that’s when they turned on the lights and told Max he was invisible so he looked into the mirror and thought it was a trick mirror. It wasn’t. The mirror made the person who was invisible get dizzy after a while, so they decided to see who could stay in the longest. The kids got pulled into the mirror, except for Max, and he did not realize that, because their reflections came out, the bad side of them, but when he went in the mirror himself he was trapped. So now he has to figure out how to get out and save the rest of them.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like best about Max is he keeps the mirror secret with his best friends and he gets a bad feeling about the mirror and does not want to do the competition anymore but he eventually gives in and does it anyways. So he does not ruin the fun for the others.
The thing I do not like about him is he acts so afraid and can’t stand up for his feelings about the mirror. So it is kind of annoying in the book how he says he does not want to and does it anyways. He always ends up doing the competitions.

DeleteIn “Ella Enchanted” the main character, Ella, gets a gift from her fairy godmother, Lucinda. But what Ella doesn’t know about her gift is its actually a curse. (And for her to have to take upon the burden of obedience at a babies age). Now Ella is trying to find Lucinda to take back the curse because Prince Charles, Char for short, uncle is trying to get rid of him so he can have the crown. (that means be king) Hes going to make Ella kill him. Will succeed in finding Lucinda? Will she have to kill Prince Char, her one true love? Read the book to find out.

I don’t like that in the book Ella doesn’t have that real emotion. She just has determination.( and a really bad temper)

DeleteThe Plum Tree is about a woman who lives with her mother and is trying to find her birth-father. Since she never knew who he was and never saw him because she only knew the man her father was married to that died a couple of years earlier. Jane’s mother, Beth and the father of Jane never got married because he didn’t want to stay in Texas and stay on his family’s tea farm. Then, Jane went to places to see where he lived and found out that he is in Europe. She told her mother that she was going to fly all the way into Europe and she did. She found him with the help of her friend, Miles. It was still hard for her knowing that she had no idea what he looked liked. So Jane is a very curious person.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about Jane is how she’s very brave and curious to find out things. So she’s brave enough to go to the next step and go to Europe to her father.
What I don’t like about Jane is she gets mad at Beth very easily. Even over the littlest things by just criticizing her. But then she feels bad about it and tries to be nice to her mother because you can't be mad at your mother all the time.
That sounds like a like really good book to read. I might read that when I'm done reading the book that I'm on now!

DeleteStar Wars Young Jedi Knights: Return to Ord Mantel is about a boy named Zekk who is training to be a jedi. He is currently training on Yavin 4. Zekk (around the age of fifteen) was found by the new sith after Sidious. He was training with the dark side of the force (an energy field created by all living things). When the Jed found out about the academy they destroyed it and saved Zekk. Zekk being perfectly fine about the Jedi now, he has to control his anger.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I like about Zekk is that he is unpredictable. Luke (the jedi who destroyed the empire and head of the jedi) told Zekk to go and do something that he enjoys. So Zekk, Tennel Ka, and Lowbacca travel to Ord Mantel where the Blockade Runners Derby was being held. He won the race and surprised his two friends and their father who were hosting the race.
The one thing I least like about Zekk is what he thinks. In some parts in the book he thinks about the dark side of the force. He thinks about his anger inside of him and the Jedi order.He sometimes lets his anger just barely slip away.
Just listen is about a girl named Annabelle who lives in California. She is a teen model dealing with the fact that her parents care more about her two older sisters and their eating disorders than her career. But she doesn’t care anymore when she falls in love with Adam. A high school bully that thinks that music is the only thing that matters. But when they just start to like each other the find that they have so many different interests, and when they try to make it work the only thing they do is fight.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about Annabelle is that no matter how bad thing can get, she doesn’t let it stress her out. And that she is so nice to everybody, no matter how things are at her house with her sisters. She is still a warm, and kind person.
What I like the least About Annabelle is that when she sets her mind to something, she does it whether it’s good or bad, and most of the time she always get in trouble. Like the time she lost her childhood best friend due to the fact that she wanted to be cool and ditched her friend for the new bad girl in town.
That sounds like a very interesting story!
ReplyDeleteIn my book The Dead of Night it is about Dan Cahill trying to find his best friend Atticus which has been captured by these people that nobody has any idea why they captured him or what they want from him so, Dan is trying his best to find him.Atticus keeps trying and trying to see if he can find a way when ever he has the chance to escape from them to get back to Dan.Dan Cahill will do anything in his power to find Atticus and will try to stop the people from harming Atticus at all cost.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like most about my character Dan is he is a kind of person who is always up for an adventure and a great mystery to try to solve to help him and any of his friends with their adventures.Dan is also always up for a good fight when ever he has the chance to.
The thing that I like least about my character is he always rushes into things before actually thinking anything through in his head which can cause something dangerous to happen to him or any others with him.This can also ruin their plan entirely when they are trying to solve something or when they are trying to stop somebody from causing something bad to happen.

DeleteThe Boy Who Dared is about a boy name Gerhard that is in prison with his family. There is a camp of Hitler Youth that has jews locked up. The jews are locked up in their houses with guards guarding their doors. Gerhard is a young boy that tries to help his family. This camp watches everything like the schools and churches.

DeleteMy book is about a old dog named Old Yeller because he was old and instead of howling he would yell. It’s also about a 14 year old boy who has to take care of the farm with Old Yeller in his way all the time.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about the most about Old Yeller is that he’s brave. The reason I say that is,I’ve never heard about or seen a dog brave enough to jump in a bullfight.
There is only one thing I don’t like about my main character is,he steals meat.
