Prompt – Marking Period 2
Write a brief summary about your book and the main character. Then, tell what you like the best about the main character. Explain. What do you like the least about your main character? Explain. Your response should be 2-3 paragraphs.
The Plum Tree is about a girl named Christine who lives in Germany. It takes place just before World War II is about to begin. She falls in love with Isaac, who is Jewish. Christine’s family is very poor, and they actually work for Isaac’s wealthy family. Since they are from different social classes, Christine has to keep her crush a secret until one day she finds out that Isaac feels the same way about her. Just as they are beginning their relationship, World War II hits, and Isaac has to go into hiding because he is Jewish. He gets taken to a concentration camp, and Christine fears she will never see him again.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about Christine is that she isn’t perfect. She comes from a family who is poor, but she is a hard worker and very skilled. She also is a very loving and caring sister. She takes great care of her younger siblings.
What I do not like about Christine is that she makes some risky choices. For example, when she sees Isaac, enslaved by the Germans, walking through her town, she calls out to him. Then, she hides him in her attic. The Germans end up finding him and send both of them to concentration camps.
What happens to Isaac and Christine at the Concentration Camps? And also I take it that Christine is a Christian or not Jewish, because she didn't have to hide. And May I read it?
DeleteJordan, I don't want to give away too much, but both Christine and Isaac are given jobs at the camp, so they are not killed immediately, unlike many of the other people who come to the camp.

DeleteJayfeather is the main character, he is basically the leader. But he isn’t. He is a medicine cat, which means he is a nurse cat. He is helping Briarpaw right now her back legs got stuck under a tree when it fell. She says her back legs are paralyzed, but Jayfeather can help her.

My main character is Jayfeather, and he is nice, a cute cat, and the best cat! So I just like him, I don’t really have anything to dislike about him.
The book is called Fading Echoes of the series Warriors.

DeleteIn The Stowaway Solution Aiden is trying to get information to get his parents out of jail. They are running and stowaway on a boat and jumped in the Pacific Ocean. Aiden got sent to the hospital on his last lime. The cop is trying to get info from Aiden.

DeleteThread Of Suspicion is about a girl named Nell, who lives at Hope’s End. Nell came to Hope’s End to help Allegra, who had recently became paralyzed from the waist down in a carriage accident. People at Hope’s end believe Allegra cannot talk after this accident and Nell is going to try to help improve Allegra's people skills. Nell is at Hope’s End because she is supposed to be Allegra's companion. Nell hopes one day, that she can get Allegra back to normal, which includes her walking and talking again.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about Nell is, she is very determined. She is determined to figure out what secrets hide at Hope’s End, and what secrets about Allegra are being hidden too. Nell doesn’t care what people at Hope’s End think about her, she doesn't care what they think. All Nell cares about is finding the truth, and helping Allegra.
The thing that I don't like about Nell, is she doesn’t take risks to see Allegra. Everyone tries to hide Allegra from Nell, and she deals with it. She has important stuff to tell Allegra, and she can’t tell her if everyone is shunning Nell. Nell barely talks to Allegra, and its frustrating.
Is she able to walk and talk again? Also, Is Allegra a person or a place?
DeleteAllegra is person, and i don't know if she can walk yet, but she can talk. dhe could talk the whole time, she told Nell. She said she never talked because there was no point of talking anymore.

DeleteThe book Blubber is about a girl named Linda, who gives a report about whales. Some of her classmates nickname her blubber, a part of the whale. They like to bully Linda. Eventually, the main character, Jill, who was a bully, stands up against the some of the other bullies. After Linda is bullied, Jill begins to get bullied by everyone. She talks to her mom about it and finds a way to make all of the bullying stop. In the end, Jill learns that she should treat others the way she wants to be treated.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like the best about Jill is that she knows to stand up to what is wrong. When Linda is being bullied she knows that it is wrong. Also, she really was a true friend to her best friend when her she needed help and needed someone through difficult times.
What I like the least about Jill is that she was a bully. She was very rude to Linda like the rest of the class at first. Jill would trip linda and force her to call herself Blubber in front of everyone. She didn’t want anyone to hate her like they all hated Linda, so she would be a bully like everyone else would be.
This book seems good, because it tells you about bullying and why you shouldn't do it because it's hurtful. Was Linda ever called Blubber after that?

Isablee’s mom found out about Isabelles eating disorder from “ape face” which is her sister April. Isabelle’s mom sent her to a group and she met a girl she knew from school. The most popular girl in the whole entire school, Ashley Barnum. They both have the same eating disorder. So they decided to keep that secret between them. They started to hang out a lot more and do almost everything together. Ashley’s friends didn’t know what to think about Isabelle, they didn’t understand why Ashley chose to be friends with her. The most popular girl in school decided to be friends with Isabelle Lee.
ReplyDeleteWhat i like best about Isabelle is she do what other people say, she does what she knows is right, well at least most of the time. She sticks up for herself, and mostly other people when she see’s that somethings wrong she stops it. She feels confident when it comes to sticking up for others. Ashley has a high self-esteem about herself. when it comes to being around other people she zones out and is just honest most of the time.
What I dislike about Isabelle is she has a sort of low self-esteem when it comes to herself. BUt towards the end of the book her self-esteem builds up more and more. Ashley comes from a wealthy family and sometimes she can be rude and dishonest and sometimes she just doesn’t care.
Isabelle sounds like a very good person, because she sticks up for herself and does what she knows is right. I think this is a very good book, and I would like to read it.

ReplyDeleteThe main story is about a brave bone and how he helps the little animals. He helps them from the rat creatures. because the rat creatures ate their parents. And they see one of the children is gone so they go save the kid and try to save the parents. how they save the parents is by going in the giant rat creatures mouth. And to get out the brave bone starts singing a very very loud song which gets the big rat creature to throw up.and then they live a happy life.
I like the main character because he’s a brave heroic character that wants to save people life
and dont wanna not save the person's life.
i dont like that the main character goofed around sometimes and didn't act all serious.about the whole subject that was happening.

DeleteMy summary is, Fairy Tail is about wizards they have very special powers and some use them for good and some use them for bad. Natsu is the main character, he is a dragonslayer, their magic is more powerful than any other. in the book Natsu is trying to complete a test to become an s-class wizard they are higher ranks than other wizards but sometimes not more powerful than regular wizards. Along with him Lucy, Gray, and Wendy are taking it also. The test is very difficult and full of obstacles. Some obstacles are even s-class wizards themselves both are very dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI like Natsu because he is a fire dragon slayer. Any dragon slayer can make a dragon scale armor to defend his body from other magic. Also when Natsu eats fire he becomes stronger and more energized.
The things I like least about Natsu is that he is really cocky and wants to fight anyone stronger than him. If he loses then he fights again and again etc. Natsu thinks he can always win because he’s a dragon slayer but he can’t, so whenever he fights and loses he keeps fighting.
If it is really dangerous then why are they trying to be a s-class wizard? Are they good or bad?

DeleteThe Babysitting Wars is about girls named Kaitlyn Maggie and Liesel. Kaitlyn is very sporty and Maggie is picky unlike Maggie Liesel is not picky. my favorite character is Liesel because she will eat anything and she reminds me of myself I will eat anything you give me. why i don’t like my favorite character is because she reminds me of my sister they have the same hair color and they have the same style in cloth.

As the book goes on, Vanessa learns what her friends are hiding, and what is to be her fate. She runs into trouble right before her birthday, and can’t figure out how to get out. A former daughter of the moon who guides the young girls, tells Vanessa a huge secret that changes her life forever that night. The daughters of the moon have to face evil forces known as followers, who are controlled by the atrox who is the devil. The only way the daughters can get out of trouble with the followers, is to help eachother. When Vanessa discovers the secret, she is alone and wishes more than anything that the daughters were there with her to help.
ReplyDeleteI like Vanessa’s personality most, because she is very kind and outgoing, and she is not afraid to be herself. She puts others first, and she is not nosey. Also, she does better things when she has thoughts of making bad decisions.
I dislike how Vanessa is too kind to others. She does not worry about her self sometimes, and she needs to, because she is just putting herself in danger. When she becomes so clueless about herself, and continues to not worry about her own troubles, it ends up putting the other daughters in trouble.
How comes Vanessa's friends always find a way to exclude her from things? Also, were the daughters of the moon born with the powers or did they develop over time?

DeleteTwo little girls in blue is about a guy named Pied Piper who is very evil, mean, and a very cold hearted person.These two little girls Kathy and Kelly got kidnapped.The parents got Kelly back, but did not get the other kid Kathy back.The parents thinks Kathy is died. But, they are not right Kathy is in a hotel with Pied Piper girlfriend. But, they do not know that she is not getting taken care of really well. Kathy is not well because she has pneumonia.
ReplyDeleteI like that my main character Pied Piper Did not go with Mona and Kathy to the hotel. They are at a hotel because they did not stay in the house because the police know where the Pied Piper lives but they can not catch him.
I least like that my main character Pied Piper came in contact with the parents that he kidnapped Kelly and Kathy from and tells him where to find him. But, also he giving himself away because the police are tracking every call he makes to the parents and recording it on a machine.

DeleteBaseball Great is about you boy named John that is being bullied for being new and the kid that is doing it will now leave him alone. He has to go through that and meanwhile his dad is getting cut for the Chiefs, which is a minor league baseball team that he played for. So John is going to try out for his school baseball team and everyone is calling him the baseball great because of an article that a girl named Jaden wrote about John and in it she called him the baseball great. So everyone was saying he wasn't going to be good and he turned out to be the best hitter on the team. Then his dad comes and tells the couch that John will not be playing for him and John is devastated that he can't play. His dad takes him to a place called Mount Olympus Sports were a baseball team practiced and is where John will try out and johns dad coached at now.
ReplyDeleteWhat i like about John is he like to play baseball for the fun of it not of money and not for popularity. He wants to follow in his dads footprints and play in minor league and me get into the majors. He knows that he will have to push through hard to get a spot on the team but he doesn't care he will try his hardest to get on the team no matter what anyone says.
What i don't like about John is he doesn't stand up for himself. when he is getting bullied he just runs away and doesn’t try to stop the bully he just runs away and that is making it wears. Now the bully wants to fight him and running away now is okay but not before. Since he run away before it has lead up to this and it will keep happening if he doesn't tell someone.

Maximum ride is about a teenage girl named Max and her friends getting chased by the government they’re getting chased because they were part of a project and it made them grow wings. So they broke out and have been running for about a year now. While they keep running from the government some people try to stop them. While all this is happening they find out that they were taking away from their parents when they were born so they have a new objective to their life and it is to find their parents. Since they were taking away from their family at birth their real family is each other since they were with each other for most of their lives. The thing I like about Max the most is that she’s the leader and she stands up for other people and her friends and she also tries to take care of her friends. The thing I like least about Max is that she makes some bad calls and she always get’s in trouble. Also she judges people before she meets them so if they were good she thinks their bad and does not want to trust them.

DeleteThe Gathering of Light is about a guy named Hixson and he lives in Pennsylvania. In the beginning Hixson signs up for the civil war and leaves his family. When Hixson get sent out to fight he ends up in Virginia and gets shot right in the stomach. A girl named Sarah finds him and takes him to her house. Then when Hixson gains conscious he notices there is another girl there named Emma. Sarah was doing a healing session with Hixson then Sarah’s hands start glowing and she gathers light and heals Hixson. Hixson leaves to go home when he is all healed and on the way home Hixson falls in love with Sarah. At Hixsons house when he gets home there's a lot of talk about what happened, but Hixson doesn’t tell them about her gift.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like most about Hixson is that he does stuff that he doesn’t have to do. Like when he is in a sticky situation he tries his best even if he knows he can’t succeed, but he tries his best.
What I dislike most about Hixson is that he is always trying to be the hero. He almost kills himself doing stuff for others. He goes out of his way and Sarah doesn’t like it.
The 100 Cupboards is about how the main character Henry York hears unusual sounds in the walls of his room. Then he starts to pick at the wall and find 99 cupboards. After Henry starts messing with the cupboards and and find and find a key. This key unlocks this unknown room in his house to find the 100th cupboard and a journal about the cupboards. Then he comes back to the mistryst room and find this very small man that Henry chases, to get lost in a different world. The main character Henry is a person who likes to explore unknown places and to try new things.
ReplyDeleteThe characteristic that I like about Henry is how he likes to look for new places and mysteries. For an example Henry would not stop to find answer about the cupboards form the small man. Another example is how he would not stop taking plaster off his wall to find different cupboards.
That is what I like about Henry.
The things I do not like about Henry is how he lies and keeps secrets. For example he would not tell his uncle about the cupboards and what they do. Also, he hid the cupboard from his family by putting posters all over his wall. Lastly he lied about what he did with the plaster and how his blanket what disgusting. That is what I dislike about Henry.
Holes is about a kid named stanley one day he was walking along the highway, and these nice shoes fell into his bookbag so, he held them in his hand and a cop pulled up to him and said stop right now. so he did and said what is the problem, the cop said ‘those shoes are stolen’. So he had to go to court and he said the shoes fell into his bag. The judge said how on earth is that possible. So he had to pick a place to go jail or camp Green Lake so he picked the camp and thought oh this wont be bad. So he took a bus there and all he saw was desert the whole trip there. So he finnaly gets there and Mr.Sr said go out and dig a 5 foot hole he said why I thought this was a camp. And Mr.Sr says this is not a fun camp this is a juvinille detention camp. So one day stanley and a kid named x-ray says ‘hey we should go steal some of Mr.Sr’s sunflower seeds. So they get them and they are just passin it around then a kid gave a bad pass too stanley and the bag spilled.And then they saw Mr.Sr’s car and they tried to pick them all up.But Mr.Sr got there and said whats in the whole and it was the seed bag empty. Then all of of a sudden Mr.Sr rips him from out of his hole and takes him to a woman called the warden.When they get there Mr.Sr tells her what stanley did and she told stanley to go and get a pouch and she took out venim nail polish and put some on and smacked Mr.Sr with it.So later they escape and take Mr.Sr’s car and then they get caught and 2 years later they went home and stanley was good the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I like about stanley is that when he went to court and the judge asked him did you steal the shoes! And he said no they fell into my bookbag and he did not lie to get it over with. He just stuck with his story and no one listened.Also I like how when x-ray hit him in the neck with a shovel he did not do a thing he just said stop dude just because you can’t read its not my fault so x-ray stopped and he got reading lessons.
One thing I don’t like about stanley is he spit in hole after he dug it that is kind of nasty. Also I didn’t like how he tried to steal the water truck and crashed into a hole.Because now how is everyone else going to drink water. Now they have to push the truck out.
I think you gave a lot of information about the story and how it goes along. I really think I will read this book later cause it sounds good.

DeleteThe book The Throne Of Fire is about a girl and a boy. The boys name is Carter and the girls name is Sadie. Sadie and Carter go all over the world fighting ancient and powerful egyptian gods. there quest is to reawake the god of order whose name is Ra so they can have a chance to push the god of chaos (also known as Apophis) deep into the daut (the daut is like the ocean but instead of water its magic. It has many different layers).but to awake Ra they need the the book of ra which is split into three parts of scrolls. They already have one but the third one is hidden and the second one is in the protection of the house of life(the house of life is a huge order of mages. and the house does not like the gods)so Sadie and carter need to find the two scrolls or life as they know it will end. Plus the house doesn't like Carter and Sadie is because they had gods inside of there soul before therefor making them stronger but the gods can only give the power through items like amulets rings and other items but Sadie and Carter put the amulets of Horus and Isis.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about Carter and Sadie is they are very powerful even without the gods. They are very surprising and they take risks. The cool thing is that there bloodline is a cross between to pharos blood so that makes them more powerful even without the gods. Plus they always get into trouble.
What I don’t like about Sadie and carter is they always get into fights. And they let go of the gods when they they could of had so much power. So now when sadie uses a spell she gets really tired and when Carter uses his combat warrior he gets worn out.
